Head Space: From Vice to Inspiration

Acrylic, tobacco, moss, lichen and dried flowers on canvas, 2018.

The use of tobacco was almost accidentally intentional, it took me on a journey of discovering the natural beauty of things alive and how death can influence you to consume or create. Using natural matter forced me to battle my precisian side, to accept that what is moving shouldn’t be stopped and what is alive is always moving. I relished creating with matter that is changing, it inspired me to exercise adapting to the circumstances I’m bound to.

I guess I have to go

"I guess I have to go" is a heartfelt exploration of my inner world, vividly capturing the interplay of support, hardship, confusion, and beauty found in the unknown. This painting acts as a personal reflection, illustrating the emotions that surface as I navigate through life’s uncertainties. One beautiful spring day bloomed this painting, hours of emotions poured, colours of yearning and movement guided from within, by the evening I knew I had to go, to pursue happiness, to pursue what makes my soul alive. To do so I have to leave the control of my fears, no matter the storm that’ll cause, I have to leave my comfort behind and truly dive out to reach my calling.

Strength

This painting, titled “Strength,” represents an inner sanctuary where I go to draw energy and resilience. The monochromatic palette, dominated by shades of black and white, sets a meditative tone, creating an atmosphere of cosmic stillness. This calm levitation suggests a sense of transcending earthly limits, reaching for something greater within.

Geometric lines reinforce the feeling of boundless space and energy, as if drawing strength from a higher, unseen source.

The celestial symbols of the sun and moon evoking a sense of eternal cosmic power. The sun represents vitality, energy, and life force, while the crescent moon suggests introspection, intuition, and calm. Together, these elements speak to the balance and harmony I seek, embodying the idea that true strength comes from both the outer world and the inner self.
